NJ Gateway Federal Credit Union Granted Approval for Community Charter

36-Year-Old Credit Union Now Able to Serve All of Middlesex County

Monmouth Junction, N.J. October 10, 2005 – Rina Pantano, President and Chief Executive Officer of NJ Gateway Federal Credit Union has recently announced that the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) has granted a community charter to NJ Gateway, allowing the 36-year-old financial services organization to offer its products, services, and membership benefits to anyone who lives, works, attends school, or worships in Middlesex County. Prior to this charter change, Ms. Pantano noted that NJ Gateway’s field of membership was strictly limited to employee groups.

NJ Gateway FCU was originally formed in 1969 by the employees of International Business Machines (IBM) of Dayton. The credit union grew to serve employee groups at several additional IBM locations as well as employee groups in other industries throughout New Jersey. "We are very proud of our long-time association with these special employee groups," Ms. Pantano said, adding that NJ Gateway FCU "looks forward to offering the same great products and services to our new, broader community."

"As our membership grows, we are able to expand the services we offer to our members," Ms. Pantano said. "The quality financial products and unparalleled customer service once reserved exclusively for IBM employees and other select employee groups is now available to the people of Middlesex County."

Credit Unions, unlike banks, are not-for-profit financial services organizations. Ms. Pantano, who also serves as Chairman of the 180-member New Jersey Credit Union League, noted that all credit unions are "very closely regulated" by the federal government, and that credit union member deposits are fully insured up to $100,000 through the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF).

In addition to savings and checking products and a wide variety of loans and mortgages, NJ Gateway Federal Credit Union also offers free electronic services such as online bill pay, internet banking, loan applications, and online credit card banking.

More information about NJ Gateway Federal Credit Union as well as their products and services may be obtained by calling (732)329-3838 or visiting their website at www.njgateway.org. NJ Gateway FCU is headquartered at 100 Culver Road, Monmouth Junction.
